In a bid to promote football development across the country, Nigerian football legend Kanu Nwankwo on Monday paid a courtesy call on the governor of Delta State, Mr Ifeanyi Okowa at his office.

The visit comes shortly after the state-based football club Warri Wolves otherwise known as ”Sea Siders” got promoted in the Nigerian Professional Football League after returning from four year in relegation.

Recall, Warri Wolves defeated Dynamite Force of Benin City six days ago in a game that ran into extra time in a game after a goal-less draw in regulation time.

While congratulating the team for the promotion, Okowa  Governor Okowa in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu on Tuesday in Asaba, noted that the promotion of Warri Wolves to the NPFL was deserving and a proof of the state government’s commitment to sports development in the state.

The Delta governor while disclosing the news on his official Twitter handle @GovIfeanyiOkowa said, ‘I thank the living football legend, Nwankwo Kanu, for the visit to my office today and the gift of the Super Eagles Jersey! As we work to build a #StrongerDelta, we remain committed to supporting the development of sports across our great state.”

FactsreporterNG learnt the visit was to help chart a new cause for the promotion of local sports development in the state and to encourage local talents in the state.
